About

Why Art and Sand?

ART

a tribute to my husband Steve - a professional artist

and

to celebrate my love for creating cards, books, quilts....

SAND

the reason we live in a beach house

marriage to an avid surfer means sand tracked throughout the house.

I  constantly complained about sand always underfoot.

I said we should buy a  beach house where sand is normal.

We did,

and I no longer complain about sand.

  1. I love it, Carol, and I'm a beach lover too. How wonderful that you actually have a beach house. My husband and I have lived in Florida for over 40 years and we cannot imagine life away from the ocean. It's truly a gift.
    Much love,
    Marcia

  3. About twelve years ago we lived in Florida right on the beach. I came to think of my sandy floors as part of the charm of the house. I could definitely get used to that kind of living again!

  6. Carol, how blessed you are to live in a beach house by the ocean! That is my dream. I've created a coastal cottage look but I'm missing the beach. Oh, a girl can dream!

  8. Hi Carol,

I have been following you blog for a couple of months now and am finally getting around to introducing myself. When I found your blog, I started reading the posts from the beginning and have finally arrived at present day. I love your blog. I am a teacher and swimming coach, so I really related to the posts back when you were still working. Thank you so much for sharing your world with us.

If you would like to visit my blog you can find it here.

  9. Hi Carol,
I just recently started following you. We may not live near the ocean, but we live very close to Lake Michigan and when we wintered in Florida, we always stayed in Sarasota and went to Siesta Key on a regular basis. We also sailed for many years, so the sea is in our blood. We also have a cottage on an inland lake. We must be near the water.

  10. Hello Carol!
I found myself inspired to peruse your blog and immensely admire your lifestyle. So many interests and passions. Brilliant! I'm sorry you feel you have to delete some of them, and wondered if you can compromise somehow with some of them (too many 'somes'!). Competitive tennis is a difficult one, so how about casual games?

Anyway, I too am 'retired' (62)and have a zillion interests, including many of yours. I'm an artist, writer, wild westerner (www.kitty-le-Roy.co.uk) and traveller, with oodles of other interests. I've recovered recently from 30 years of depression so am redeveloping a new, creative life. You're definitely inspiriting me on!

So best wishes, Carole, and keep at it! Ps: The sand would never have bothered me - but I'm not domesticated lol!

  11. Hi I've been visiting all your blog friends listed on the sidebar. Sadly, Poofing the Pillows has stopped blogging. I'm very sad because I was enjoying what I was seeing! Mary in VA
